Be prepared........
If you do decide to leave home make sure you have proof of ID and nationality, any benefit books you may have and your National Insurance number, passport, court orders, medical cards, address book, some of the children's favourite things, some money for fares and food.
A quick getaway......
If you think you might have to make a quick get-away - try to save some money for taxis, bus fares and phone calls. Plan an emergency escape, have clothes ready for you and your children and some or all of the documents list above.
It might not be safe to keep this leaflet so keep the numbers of the Refuge, Childrens Services, Police, Housing Dept. close to hand. Phone them and ask them to refer you to a refuge.
