At Warrington Women’s Aid, our work is rooted in a holistic, trauma-informed approach to supporting people affected by domestic abuse. We recognise that abuse impacts every part of a person’s life — their safety, health, wellbeing, housing, and sense of self. Our services are designed to respond to these needs in a coordinated and compassionate way, working closely with local partners to provide the right support at the right time.

Our work

Trauma-informed approach

All of our work is guided by trauma-informed practice. This means we recognise how trauma can affect people differently and shape our support to prioritise:

  • Emotional and physical safety

  • Choice and autonomy

  • Trust and respect

  • Empowerment and recovery

Survivors are supported at their own pace, without pressure or judgement. We focus on listening, building stability, and supporting people to regain control over their lives.

A holistic approach to support

REFER YOURSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE.png

Domestic abuse rarely exists in isolation. Many of the people we support are also managing challenges related to mental health, housing, finances, parenting, disability, or isolation.
Our work takes a whole-person approach, bringing together:

  • Safe refuge accommodation

  • Community-based support

  • Trauma-informed counselling

  • Practical advocacy around housing, benefits, and legal options

  • Family and children’s support

This joined-up approach helps ensure survivors do not have to navigate multiple systems
alone.
